One of the most beautiful and toughest trail races in Sweden taking place in the coast municipality of Sundsvall. The course takes you from the Bothnian ocean, through deep pathless wildwoods and over beautiful hills, on winding singel track trails and off trail, to the finish line at Södra Stadsberget.

Distance/vertical meters: 50k/+1600m, 25k/+900m, 12k/+300m and 3k/+100m on trails and off trail, no orienteering skills needed
We wanted to show you some of the best trails in this part of Sweden, many of them forgotten and not well known even for the locals. Hopefully you will take time to imbibe the surroundings, we will move close to civilization, but even so visit some truly wild areas.
50 km - 70% single track trails, 23% off trail, 7% contains of a mix of larger trails, gravel and asphalt roads.
25 km - 76% single track trails, 20% off trail, 4% contains of a mix of larger trails, gravel and asphalt roads.
12 km - 75% single track trails, 20% off trail, 5% contains of a mix of larger trails, gravel and asphalt roads.
3 km - 69% single track trails, 18% off trail, 13% contains of a mix of larger trails, gravel and asphalt roads.
The running surfaces are very variable, all from smooth trails and highly runnable bare rock up on the hills, to more techniqual and demanding parts with high growing heather, blueberry bushes and wet (and dry) marshes. It's a lot of fun!
The courses are hilly, even though the highest peak is only 261 meters above the sea. The total ascent/descent doesn't tell the whole story about the toughness of the courses due to the techniqual level which will keep the pace down.
Climbing skills are not necessary, but there are some steep uphill and downhill sections were ropes are deployed and can be used if desired.
The courses are well marked with red and white stripes and several hundred Sundsvall Trail direction signs. Still it's up to the participants to take their time to follow the markings.
There will be food stations at Essvik, Nolbykullen, Tallstugan, Fågelbergsstugan and Södra Stadsberget. In total 4 stations on the 50 km course, 2 on the 25 km course and 1 on the 12 km course. Every participant will have to bring a water bottle/foldable cup on the race day, which can be used to drink from at the stations. Water, sport drinks, bananas, oranges, chocolate, cinnamon buns and something salt are served at every food station, in addition we will serve something warm (soup?) at Fågelbergsstugan.
The communications to Sundsvall is really good. By car the race area lies just next to European Route E4. The airport Midlanda is 25 minutes away, and the train station 10 minutes away from the finish area. To facilitate your home trip we will offer a bus transport from the finish area on sunday evening. There are plenty of hotels in the city of Sundsvall, but since we have a good deal with Södra Berget Hotel and Resort that is our primary recommendation. Located beautifully just at the finish area, it´s a good place to stay for an extra day or two. The offer is 525 SEK/night including breakfast, and the discount code is delivered to you by email after registrering to the race.
Parking and transport to start
There are good car parking areas at the finish. We offer bus transportation to the 50 km and 25 km starts leaving about an hour before the start from the finish area (included in the starting fee).
Toilets and showers
There are toilets at the start and finish, and showers at the finish
Waffles will be served at the finish, included in the starting fee. Hopefully we can also offer a grill plate, some home made snacks, nuts, water and sport drinks in the finish area (cash only!!).
It is possible to get a smal/normally sized bag transported from start to the finish and it is possible to store bags in a tent by the finish, but we dont take any responsibility for your belongings.

There is no dress code, but we would recommend a pair of good terrain shoes that can withstand some beating. A pair of knee high socks will keep your calves protected from the elements.
We will use sportident for time recording, including splits around the course. More information will be given on the race meeting.
Top three men and women in each class, and the fastest man and woman in the hill climb, will be rewarded with prizes.
